DR. JOEL D. STEIN, D.O.,F.A.A.O., F.A.O.A.S.M.
Medical Director

Dr. Stein graduated from KCOM in 1983. He was an undergraduate fellow in the departments of Anatomy and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM). After serving a general rotating internship and finishing Family Practice training at Humana Hospital South Broward, he became full time faculty at what is now Nova-Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Stein is Board Certified in Family Practice, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Sports Medicine. Dr. Stein is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Osteopathy (FAAO), a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine (FAOASM), and a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (FACOFP). He serves academically as a Clinical Associate Professor at NSU-COM, Professor Emeritus at University of Miami, School of Medicine, Visiting Clinician for the American Academy of Osteopathy and serves on the AAO Bureau of Experts. Dr. Stein is a board examiner for the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (AOBNMM), serving on the Committee on Fellowship of the AAO and for the Conjoint Board in Sports Medicine. His current clinical position is Medical Director of the Institute for Non-Surgical Orthopedics in


Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He is active at the State and National political levels serving on the FOMA Board of Trustees, and as a Florida representative to the AOA House of Delegates. Dr. Stein serves on the Board of the Florida Society, ACOFP and is an active reviewer for the Florida Department of Health, Board of Osteopathic Medicine. Clinical interests include Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Acupuncture, Interventional Pain Management and Manual Therapy. He is an avid teacher and enjoys being on the lecture bureau for Acorda Pharmaceuticals, Guna Inc., and Ferring Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Stein has been in practice in the Broward and Dade County areas since 1984. His special interests are in “treatment of the moving parts of the body”. He has been trained by the Orthopedic Medicine Society, London, UK and holds full membership status as well as Fellow Eligibility. He has a twenty-five plus year history of teaching Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment. Dr. Stein’s other clinical interests include Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Sports Medicine, Acupuncture, Interventional Injection Techniques, Pain Management and Manual Therapy. He is an avid teacher and enjoys being on the lecture bureau for Acorda Pharmaceuticals, Guna Inc., and Ferring Pharmaceuticalsmedical. His clinical faculty includes Family Practice Physicians, Specialists in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) and NeuroMusculoSkeletal Medicine (NMM), Sports Medicine as well as Physiatry (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation). Manual Therapy utilized includes Osteopathic Manipulation, Cranial Osteopathy, Craniosacral Therapy, Balanced Membranous/Ligamentous Techniques (BMT/BLT), Strain-Counterstrain, Muscle Energy, Neuromuscular Therapy, Rolfing, Soma Therapy, and Guided Imagery techniques. Injection techniques utilized in the clinics include Fluoroscopically
(x-ray) Guided Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar Facet/Medial Branch Blocks, Transforaminal Epidurals, Caudal Epidurals, Selective Nerve Root Blocks as well as Joint Injection, Prolotherapy and GUNA Physiological Regulating Medicine (PRM)/Homeopathic Injectable use for Pain Management
